Heading South

I totally missed theย boat, as they say, on this one. I would have loved to have gotten a shot of them approaching with bridges raised.ย This scene unfolded back in October as I was returning fromย lunch in the South Loop. The raised bridges allowed a small flotilla of sailboats to make their way south along the South Branch of the Chicago River. My imagination wants to believe that they then sailed down the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal to the Des Plaines River to the Illinois River to the mighty Mississippi River and then on to the Gulf for the winter. Instead, they probably just went to drydocks or to a lift and then onto a truck for winter storage or overland travel somewhere else. But I can dream โ€ฆ
