I’ve found that renting a home, reconnecting with family, and exploring a new location is a wonderful way to spend a week of vacation. Here are a few photo highlights from the journey (sorry, but I don’t share family photos here):

The Fort Gratiot Lighthouse catches the hues of the fading sun.

A speedboat flies down St. Clair river as a laker heads toward the outlet of Lake Huron.

A seagull feather lies on the pebble beach. Lake Huron is known for having rockier beaches than the sandy shores of Lake Michigan, and the variety of rocks is fun to explore.

We were lucky that our scheduled beach day matched a particularly calm lake. Looking north, it’s nearly 200 miles of open water until you’d reach Lake Huron’s opposite shore in Ontario.

An Equinox-class laker heads north under the Blue Water bridge linking Port Huron, Michigan and Sarnia, Ontario.
