Part 9 of 17. This back porch in New Orleans offers great ventilation, but not much in the way of water or bug protection. Eaves, Chris (March 23, 2019). Cracking a Window [Photograph]. New Orleans, Louisiana. Shot on Canon 6D at 70mm, 1/4000 sec., f4 […]
Another photo from a drive along the Fox River in winter. I love weather with personality, and days like this—with clouds and frigid cold—make it memorable.

I love a good-old-fashioned red barn on a snowy day. Nearby there are nearly 400 acres of horse pastures and trails that are soon to become part of the Cook County Forest Preserve system. Eaves, Chris (Jan. 26, 2019). Barn in Winter [Photograph]. Barrington Hills, Illinois. Shot […]
I goofed a bit on my development, as you can see by the bubble on the right side of the frame. It was my second roll ever developing myself, so mistakes were bound to happen. I’m amused by the fact that plant got so many walk-in job seekers at his door that they manufactured a giant sign to send them to a different entrance. Overall, though, the door is a sad reminder of the impact that cheap foreign labor had on this industry.

The second in my Haeger series, this one shows entrance No. 7. The old-school fire alarm bells give away the age of the buildings on this well-kept but shuttered property. It’s a shame to see small-scale manufacturers like Haeger collapse in the global economy. Eaves, […]
Today marks the first in a five-part, unauthorized series on Haeger Potteries. Formed in 1871, Haeger operated for 145 years in East Dundee, Illinois. Clay from the nearby Fox River supplied the plant, which got a business boon as a result of the Great Chicago […]
The last in this four-part series of photos about a truck. This one is more of a photographers’ photograph. There are so many frames within frames … it’s frames all the way down.
- Eaves, Chris (July 23, 2018). Framed [Photograph]. Memphis, Tennessee. Shot on a Canon 6D at 40mm, 1/640 sec., f8.0, ISO200
Our summer weekend getaway in Memphis included a couple stops over at wonderful Shelby Farms Park. I don’t know why they retired this truck in the fashion they did (it still had a valid license plate on the front), but I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of it.

The final one in my series on the abandoned Guánica lighthouse. This one I keep on my desk at work. Identical shot, but post-processed as a B&W image instead. Eaves, Chris (April 23, 2009). Sentinel III [Photograph]. Puerto Rico, U.S.A. Shot on a Canon Powershot […]
