Chicago, unlike many large cities, enjoys plenty of open spaces and unused or underutilized spaces — including this parking lot that was vacant in the middle of a workweek. One copy of this print is available for purchase! Eaves, Chris (Aug. 7, 2015). Pre-Pay [Photograph]. […]
A few Loop office workers take a morning coffee break.
Always a favorite spot of Chicago photogs, the Chicago Theatre and the Red Line make for an interesting composition. Eaves, Chris (Feb. 20, 2020). Chicago Theatre [Photograph]. Chicago, Ill. Shot on a Canon 6D at 31mm, 1/100 sec., f5 at ISO100.
Not everyone is a fan of street photography, and as a photographer, practicing this part of the art remains uncomfortable. These margins of skill discomfort, though, provide us the space we need for growth and adaptation—perfect reasons to explore discomfort! Eaves, Chris (Feb. 20, 2020). […]
The sun poked through at just the right moment to illuminate a few pedestrians crossing the Adams Street Bridge.
We’re on a brief interlude here while I finish up content for my next series, Abandoned Government. This week, I’ll post a few pre-pandemic-lockdown street photos from around Chicago. I call this one “Sliding By.” Eaves, Chris (Feb. 20, 2020). Sliding By [Photograph]. Chicago, Ill. […]
NOLA series, part 16 of 17. I wandered around the City Park neighborhood a bit with a red filter on the camera to see how I liked shooting with it for black and white shots. As always, there’s a ton of character around New Orleans, […]
NOLA series, part 15 of 17.
So much to look at in this photo, with tricks, falls in process, breakdowns and, well, I’m not even sure what some of them are even doing.

NOLA series, part 14 of 17. We didn’t eat here, but next time we’re in town we’ll make an attempt. This whole neighborhood is abuzz with great energy and ample opportunities for wholesome fun. Eaves, Chris (March 24, 2019). Superior Waiting [Photograph]. New Orleans, Louisiana. […]
NOLA series, part 11 of 17. I’ll admit, I have no clue what this lady was doing. She rode up on this sweet, monogear retro bike with holiday lighting in the front wheel and fake flowers and then stopped for a while on the corner […]
Part 10 of 17.
I was trying to get a pick of the roller-coaster riders, but instead, I had the manual focus set to the wrong stop and ended up getting the portapotties and mural in focus. I’m not exactly sure why the organizers Louisiana Crawfish Festival in Chalmette chose a patriotic mural as the spot to line up a couple dozen loos, but it does make for an interesting statement.

Part 6 of 17. I watched from afar as a docent at the plantation gave a long presentation to a tour group. Some of the visitors were more into it than others … Eaves, Chris (March 25, 2019). Tour Selfies [Photograph]. Vacherie, Louisiana. Shot on […]
Part 5 of 17. A student takes advantage of the wonderful spring weather in New Orleans to study outside. These benches along the bayou are functional at best, and I couldn’t quite bring myself to actually sit on any of them. Eaves, Chris (March 23, […]
The Bayou St. John is a lovely little area of New Orleans. Like much of the city, people watching is a fun experience, and people from all walks of life wander through the area. When I look at this photo, I wonder if they are a couple, acquaintances, siblings, or random people having a conversation.
