U.S. Route 2 runs through a beautiful pass in the Cascades, including this spot here in a big bend of the Skykomish River. Photos in this series will be a combination of photos and photos with text overlays. The overlays indicate content that’s also incorporated into my digital signage.

Just your run-of-the-mill winter scene with deer prints and footprints. Well, except for that weird fat rut running down the middle of the trail. The snow that day was that horrid kind of slush that is impossible to walk in with boots and snowshoes alike. But the person having the worst of it was the fat-tire cyclist leaving behind the single rut. I met up with him about an hour later, and he was exhausted from the experience.

I like how the red filter gives the sky and clouds instant drama and contrast. The clouds didn’t last long that day and were gone by the time I wrapped up shooting.
